Surrounded by her family, Harriett West Edwards, 89, passed away on Friday, Feb. 12, 2021. She was born Aug. 4, 1931, in Stockton, Ga., to Emil and Mary Pearl Fry. She married Daryl Wade West in Nov. of 1950, who preceded her in death in 1993. Also preceding her in death were her brothers James, Mike and sister Ettie-Lee.
Edwards was of the baptist faith and was a devoted member of Mayo Baptist Church. She was a homemaker and worked at West Drug Store supporting her husband's pharmacy while managing the town's beloved soda fountain and gift shop. She shares a lifetime of cherished memories with her family of long days at the Santa Fe River. It was also at the river when she was asked on her first date by Johnny Edwards, her devoted husband for more than 20 years. While able, she enjoyed riding her jet ski and mowing her lawn and until her passing never missed her Friday hair appointment at Cindy's Hairstyling or going to Weston's baseball games. She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother.
Edwards is survived by her loving husband, Johnny Edwards; her children, Wade West (Joy) and Cynthia Koon; grandchildren: Michelle (Jason) Thomas, Jeremy (Traci) West, Darica (Clark) Smith, Brandon (Brittany) Hewett and Brittany (Bobby) Engskow; plus six great-grandchildren: MacKenzie West, Dalton Croft, Lanier Floyd, Kagan and Kamdyn Hewett, Weston and Kamryn Thomas and Indy Engskow. Who all she loved and touched dearly.
