Marvin Horne, Jr., 79, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2020 at Madison County Memorial Hospital after a short battle with cancer.
He was born and raised in Live Oak, Fla., to his late parents, Jessie and Marvin E. Horne, Sr. on Oct. 3, 1940.
He graduated from Suwannee County High School and worked in the fuel industry for over 30 years, eventually moving to Madison, Fla., in 1972. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
He loved baseball, football, fishing, the North Carolina mountains and photography. In earlier years, he had his own darkroom setup, where he developed many photographs that his family continue to enjoy today.
He especially loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed many years of friendship with his church’s “Home Group” at Fellowship Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Rebecca “Becky” Caveness Horne; his children: Jenny L. Moore (Jamie), of Madison, Alan W. Horne (Tammy), of Madison, Cathy L. Andrews (Zippy), of Valdosta, Ga., and Ken Parsons (Emerald), of Madison. He is also survived by his grandchildren: David Todd (Randi), of Ochlocknee, Ga., Victoria Todd of Gainesville, Fla., Matthew Horne, Brandon Horne and Elizabeth Moore, all of Madison, Gina Pardo (Yuniel), of Wesley Chapel, Fla., Ivey Andrews, of Nashville, Tenn., and Bryce Andrews, Kade Parsons and Connor Parsons, all of Valdosta, Ga.; and five great-grandchildren: Noel, Noemi, Giana and Gabriela Pardo, of Wesley Chapel, Fla., and Addison Jane Todd, of Ochlocknee.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Jessie Horne; his sister, Karen A. Ore; his brother, Larry E. Horne; and his youngest son, Charles (Chuck) W. Horne.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 6 at 11 a.m., at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Jackie Watts and Rev. Steve McHargue officiating. Interment services will follow at 2:30 p.m., on Thursday, Aug. 6 at Clayland Baptist Church, which is located at 11409 193rd Rd., Live Oak, Fla. 32060.
