The health advisory put in place on the Withlacoochee River in Madison and Hamilton Counties has been lifted. On Friday, Jan. 29, the Florida Department of Health placed the advisory into affect because of elevated bacteria levels in the river's water.
“Water samples taken by the Florida Department of Health indicate the river water meets surface water quality standards ensuring the public may resume water-related activities,” said Lisa Hayes, with the Florida Department of Health.
