Suwannee High School (SHS), located at 1314 Pine Ave. SW in Live Oak, will be hosting the Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) 2021 Girls Weightlifting State Championship Class 1A and Class 2A competitions this weekend.
Class 1A will compete in two sessions on Friday, Feb. 12. Session one will take place at 9:30 a.m. and will include the following weight classes: 101 lb., 110 lb., 119 lb., 129 lb. and 139 lb. Session two will take place at 1:30 p.m. and will include the following weight classes: 154 lb., 169 lb., 183 lb., 199 lb. and unlimited. Class 2A will also compete in two sessions on Saturday, Feb. 13, with session one taking place at 9:30 a.m. and session two taking place at 1:30 p.m.
Class 3A's competition will be held at St. Cloud High School in St. Cloud, Fla. on Saturday, Feb. 13, in the same fashion.
Although Suwannee is hosting two classes, girls from the SHS and Branford High School (BHS) weightlifting teams will only be competing in the Class 1A competition held on Friday. Girls representing the SHS Lady Bulldogs, are: Aislinn Henry and Macy Bowers in the 101 pound category; Matti Marsee and Ali McMillan in the 110 pound category; Sophia Baldwin in the 129 pound category; Tyrah Kalandyk in the 139 pound category; Carson Frier and Emma Brown in the 159 pound category; Maddie Carte and Erin Starling in the 183 pound category and Samantha Barber and Mallie Latrielle in the unlimited category.
Girls representing the BHS Lady Buccaneers, are: Haleigh-Ray Harris and Nathalia Veal in the 119 pound weight class; Hannah Terry in the 129 pound weight class and Evie Pitts in the 139 pound weight class.
