Jerry Edward Fender, age 68, of Jasper, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, at Lake City Medical Center in Live Oak, Fla. Jerry was born in Adel, Ga., but spent his early informative years in the Clearwater and St. Petersburg area. Jerry loved riding motorcycles as a young man and was gifted at small engine repairs. He enjoyed woodworking and hand painting some of his projects. In the early 70's he moved to Jasper, where he worked operating heavy equipment for the county until his health failed and he was forced to retire. Jerry was preceded in death by brothers: Billy, Donald and Quinten Fender and sisters: Shirley Stride, Doris Davis and Lavonne Peacock. Survivors include his wife, Barbara; son, Scott Fender (Gwendolyn); his daughter, Sonya Prophitt; three grandchildren: James, Johnathan and Victoria; three great-grandchildren: Bracelyn, Sawyer and Rowan Scott. Due to COVID restrictions, the immediate family gathered for some private moments with Jerry. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Harry T. Reid Funeral Home was in charge of immediate arrangements.
