Norman Williams Loges, 70, of Live Oak, passed away on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021 after a brief illness.
He was born in 1950 in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended elementary school in Akron and upper grades in Akron, Indiana, Illinois and California, graduating from Fullerton High School in Fullerton, Calif. He attended Florida State University and Cal State Fullerton, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography and a Master of Divinity from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 1978. He swam competitively throughout his years in school.
After college he served on the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ in the high school ministry in St. Petersburg. He later served in several pastoral positions: First Baptist Church, in Cross City, Fla.; Friendship Baptist Church, in Live Oak; as supply pastor for Suwannee Baptist Association; and as teacher and Dean of students at Westwood Christian School for over 14 years until retirement. He taught adult Sunday School classes for many years at Westwood and First Baptist Church of Live Oak.
He is preceded in death by his father, Howard Williams and mother, Phyllis Hewitt Loges.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn Leslie Loges; daughters, Susan Loges and Christy Powell of Live Oak; his adoptive father, Richard F. Loges of The Villages, Fla.; four grandchildren: Nathan, Isabella, Elaine and Alana; many cousins and numerous nieces and nephews by marriage.
A memorial service for Loges will be held on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, located at 401 W Howard Street, in Live Oak. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of the many ministries at First Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 1126 Ohio Avenue N. in Live Oak.
