Florida Gov. Ron Desantis has appointed Lake City business owner Larry Thompson to fill an opening on the Suwannee River Water Management Board. Thompson was appointed on Friday, Dec. 18, to fill one of three vacancies on this board.
This appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
Thompson is the vice president/owner of Nature's Source Products and is the president/owner of Straw America. Previously, he was the president/owner of Custom Pine Straw and has volunteered with the Suwannee County Housing Authority and CareerSource Florida Crown.
If approved by the Florida Senate, Thompson will serve with other board members Virginia H. Johns, Charles Keith, Richard Schwab, Virginia Sanchez, Harry Smith and Larry Sessions.
The Suwannee River Water Management District's (SRWMD) mission is to protect and manage water resources using science-based solutions to support natural systems and the needs of the public. The district holds true to the belief of water for nature, water for people. Headquartered in Live Oak, the district serves 15 surrounding north-central Florida counties.
