Four Live Oak Police Department (LOPD) patrol officers were promoted to Sergeant on Thursday, Nov. 19. The ceremony took place in the Live Oak Police Department training room, located at 205 White Avenue SE, where Police Chief Eugene Davis presented badges to Sergeant Nicholas Gutshall, Sergeant Daylene Homer, Sergeant Shawn Craig and Sergeant Michael Nicholson.
Applicants who met the current training standards and had served for at least one year were allowed to apply for the position of Patrol Sergeant. The applicants that were accepted then began a two month process of additional testing and evaluation to determine if they would be promoted. Upon conclusion of the testing process, those applicants who received the highest level of achievement were selected by the Chief of Police to be promoted into available positions for the rank of Patrol Sergeant.
"The Live Oak Police Department is proud of all four Sergeants and their performance in this promotional process," said Chief Davis. "They have begun a journey of great responsibility and much will be expected from each of them. We expect that these four Sergeants, based upon their individual conduct and commitment thus far, will serve their community well."
