On Tuesday, Dec. 22, the kids in the town of Jennings had a fun surprise when they saw Santa running around and giving out candy.
A spur of the moment decision by the community led to the Santa Run, which then led to a community gathering. After Santa had visited the children around town and handed out candy, those in the community were invited back to town hall for hot dogs, juice, candy and toys.
The idea of the Santa Run was brought up at a Christmas celebration lunch for the town. “We were talking about what the other towns were doing for Christmas and we wanted to do something, too,” stated Jennings Fire Chief, Steven Lang. “We want the best for the town and we thought it’d be fun for the kids. We still have some kinks to work out but we want to continue doing it.”
