Mayo Rec Soccer sign-ups are officially open. Every year, Mayo hosts its recreational soccer season throughout the late winter and early spring. This popular organization is seeing some new changes this year, while still being the fun loving, classic rec soccer it has always been.
This year, there are new grade levels for teams. They include Pre-kindergarten/Kindergarten, First and Second Grade; Third and Fourth Grade; and Fifth through Eighth Grade. “We decided to add Pre-k this year due to having lots of interest for this age group,” the Mayo Rec Soccer page reads. “Participants must be 4 by Feb. 1 to play. We are also adding fifth grade to our JV level to help prepare them for middle school JV soccer.”
The Google sign up form opened on Friday, Nov. 1, and will remain open until Wednesday, Jan. 1. There will also be in-person sign ups at the Edward Perry Sports Complex soccer concession stand on Friday, Jan. 3, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m and Saturday, Jan. 4, from 9 a.m. until noon. Sign up while you can, because no late sign-ups will be accepted.
The cost is $65 per child, and includes a jersey, shorts and socks. There is also an extra $15 option for snacks for five games. For online signups, questions and updates during the season, follow “Mayo Soccer Rec” on Facebook or join the Remind by texting “@mayosoccer” to 81010.
On top of all this, coaches are needed for all grade levels, and businesses owners have the ability to sponsor a team if they would like.
