I am Charlene Robinson, candidate for the office of Hamilton County Tax Collector.
I was born and raised here in Hamilton County. Hamilton County is my home and will always be. I attended the schools of Hamilton County and graduated from Hamilton County High School in the top 5% of my class.
I have been employed for 35 YEARS (July 3, 1989) with the Hamilton County Tax Collector's office and look forward to more years of dedicated service to you. I love serving the awesome people of our great county!
I was one of the first tax collector employees to be cross trained to become a driver license examiner in the state of Florida in 1997.
I am one of four Certified Florida Collector Assistants in our office. I am the Assistant Tax Collector and have served as the Assistant since 2009. I have received extensive training through the Florida Department of Revenue Property Tax Administration Program in the following areas: the collection and distribution of property taxes, the collection of licenses, taxes and fees, bankruptcy and tax deed applications as well as the duties and responsibilities of the tax collector.
As your elected Tax Collector, I will not only ensure the production, accuracy and integrity of motor vehicles, fishing and driver licenses transactions, BUT ALSO the collection and accurate distribution of your hard earned tax dollars. I am ready from day one to assume the role as Tax Collector!
I have extensive experience and substantial training and knowledge in ALL areas of the Hamilton County Tax Collector's Office!
In addition to processing motor vehicle and driver license transactions, my other office duties include bookkeeping, processing payroll, reporting retirement and federal payments, collecting current and delinquent taxes and distributing tax payments accurately and in a timely manner. I am ready from day one to assume the role as Tax Collector!

I have enjoyed serving in the Tax Collector's Office for the past 35 years and look forward to serving you as your next Tax Collector. I will continue to render the same friendly, courteous and efficient service as I have in the past. I believe in equal and fair treatment for all persons.

Question 1) Is there an area where the present system isn’t equally accessible to all citizens?
Answer - The present system in operation at the Hamilton County Tax Collector's Office is equally accessible for all citizens. We make every effort to ensure equal accessibility.
Question 2) How do the revenues collected impact the local budget, and what priorities do you believe should be funded through tax revenues?
Answer - All revenue collected directly affects the local budget as a deficit in revenue would have to be absorbed by residents and/or consumers of the services.
Part B Answer: The statutes, unless ordinances are enacted, govern what can be funded through tax revenue.
Question 3) What are your priorities for the tax collector's office in the coming years? And how do you plan to address the challenges you foresee?
Answer: My priorities for the Hamilton County Tax Collector's Office are to keep the office compliant and operating in accordance with the Florida Statutes all while addressing the needs of our citizens.
Part B: As of today, I don't foresee any challenges facing our office, but be assured that should any challenges arise, they will be addressed with the best possible solution for the county and our residents.
