My name is Brian S. Creech, your candidate for Sheriff of Hamilton County.
As we draw closer to the Nov. 5 General Election, I would like to thank the citizens of Hamilton County for your support and confidence in me as a candidate for your next Sheriff of Hamilton County.
I would also like to take the opportunity to answer three questions for the Riverbend News edition of “Know Before You Vote.”
Question 1) How do you plan on having the department handle situations involving individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, and what partnerships do you plan on building with mental health services?
Answer - Responding to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis is a frequent occurrence in police work. The situation can be dangerous for everyone involved.
The risks associated with these calls can be minimized through (1) mutually supportive partnerships with the established mental health providers in our community; (2) mental health TRAINING; (3) follow up with individuals and their family members after a mental health crisis; and (4) creating a position whereby a specially trained person deals exclusively with mental health crisis intervention and education.
Question 2) If elected, what is your vision for the sheriff’s office over the next few years, and what do you feel are the key challenges and opportunities facing law enforcement today?
Answer - My vision is to move the sheriff’s department forward by increasing patrols and adding more resources in high crime areas, as well as providing the highest level of training for our deputies. The majority of crimes in Hamilton County are centered around drugs. Under my direction, the sheriff’s department will focus on ending illegal drug activity throughout Hamilton County. My department will work hard to keep Hamilton County safe by making public safety our number one priority. Funds designated for the operation of the Sheriff’s Department will be properly managed to promote our values, enhance the safety and security of our taxpayers, keep deputies on the streets, and streamline administrative functions in a cost effective manner. As a result of these measures, we will provide the most exemplary law enforcement and correctional services possible for Hamilton County.
Question 3) If elected, how do you plan to involve the community in discussions about public safety and student safety at school, and what forums or programs will you offer to residents to voice their concerns?
Answer - When elected as your Sheriff, I will implement a vision of effective policing for the entire community based on input from multiple community sources, including our schools. My department will work together with all local, state and federal agencies to assure that the concerns of our citizens are heard. The safety of every citizen of Hamilton County is my priority. My department’s goal will be to steadily reduce crime, keep Hamilton County a safe place, and thus cultivate opportunities for prosperous businesses and a family-oriented lifestyle.
What makes a great Sheriff? INTEGRITY. A great Sheriff should be honest, trustworthy and transparent in their actions and decision-making. They should be committed to upholding the law and maintaining the public’s trust in law enforcement.
As a Law Enforcement Officer for more than 32 years, I will be a full-time Sheriff committed to the people of Hamilton County. It will be an honor and a privilege to serve Hamilton County as your next Sheriff.
Thank you for your continued prayers, and I humbly ask for your support and VOTE!
