On Monday, Oct. 14, the Bulldogs' boys' golf team took a trip to The Country Club at Lake City to face off against Ponte Vedra, Fleming Island, St. Augustine, Santa Fe and Columbia, who were all looking to prove their skills with a club. Ty Hurst and William Slaughter were the low scoreres for the day with 79. Cooper Hackney was close behind with 85, followed by Carter Cannon with 87, Dawson Wooley with 90, and Cooper Lee with 93. While the Bulldogs didn't find themselves at the top, they still earned a podium finish by taking third place with a team total of 330. Ponte Vedra took first place with a score of 288, and Fleming Island took second place with 301. St. Augustine tied for third with 330, Santa Fe took fourth place with 333 and Columbia came in last place with 364.
The boys' team wasn't the only golf team from Suwannee High School who played on Monday though. The Bulldogs' girls' team also had a showdown against two teams at the Suwannee Country Club. They were there to play against Columbia and Branford. Unfortunately, the Buccaneers only had two golfers, who withdrew after four holes. For the Bulldogs, Ryan Donaldson was the stand-out performer, earning medalist honors with a low score of 35. Behind her were Kate Kirby with 48, Layla Merola with 62 and Sophie Ranck with 71. Despite an impressive performance, and Donaldson winning medalist honors, it wasn't enough to take down Columbia. The Bulldogs ended in second place with a score of 216 compared to Columbia's score of 176.
