On Tuesday, Oct. 15, the Suwannee County Board of County Commissioners met for its regularly scheduled meeting. The meeting began with the approval of the minutes from the previous meeting and emergency meeting. The board then called for public comment.
John Koch was the first person to speak. He thanked the board for sending a generator to the WQHL radio station. However, he revealed that the corporation that owned the station had never used the generator. He recommended to the board that it request state and federal authorities set a requirement for local radio stations to be active and used as a communication center during disasters.
