Wednesday, Oct. 16, is Boss' Day, which has sometimes been criticized for causing employees to kowtow to their employers in order to stay in their good graces. However, the special day was designed to help younger workers understand the hard work and challenges that employers face on a regular basis. Patricia Bays Haroski registered National Boss' Day with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 1958 while working for the State Farm insurance company.
