The Lafayette County Commission held a Board of County Commissioners meeting on Monday, Dec. 14, at 9 a.m. at the Lafayette County Courthouse in Mayo, Fla. Commissioners in attendance included: Lance Lamb, District 1; Henry McCray, District 2; Lisa Walker, District 3; Anthony Adams, District 4 and Earnest Jones, District 5, who attended by phone. Leenette McMillan-Fredriksson, the County Attorney, was also in attendance.
Items discussed in the meeting, while pending final approval, included the appointing of a new garbage truck operator, the resurfacing of CR-411/CR410, CR-400 and CR-500, in order of importance and the proposal of implementing a plan which would deal with lapsed permits in the Building Department. This matter was voted unanimously to be tabled until the next meeting to allow for more research and discussion.
Other matters discussed included a request made by Cassie Branske and Teresa Rider to trap feral cats at the Third District Collection site. The cats would then be taken to be spayed or neutered. Before the board voted, Commissioner Lamb requested Branske and Rider check with homeowners that live around the collection site to make sure none of the cats belong to them.
The board also unanimously voted to continue the COVID-19 declaration of emergency for Lafayette County.
