Locals are called to help support Live Oak resident Daryl Harrell, who was diagnosed with cancer in February of this year.
Although it was initially believed to be a manageable case, Daryl has since encountered several obstacles in his battle, leaving him unable to work. His wife, Amy Byers Harrell, has also had to take additional time off from her job to help care for him after surgeries and medical appointments. However, despite the challenges they have faced, Daryl and Amy have maintained their strong faith, only asking for prayers.
Now, the community is stepping up to help assist the Harrells, who are well-known for their involvement and support when others are in need. Hoping to return the favor, a fundraiser has been scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 19, to help alleviate the financial burdens Daryl and Amy are facing during this difficult time.
The fundraiser consists of chicken and rice plates with green beans, donated and prepared by the Suwannee County Sheriff's Office and the Live Oak Police Department, which will be sold for $10 per plate. Pre-orders can be made by contacting Amanda Gabey through Facebook, at Dr. Harold R. Arthur's office or from Precision Auto.
Meals can be picked up by noon at Precision Auto, located at 500 Howard St. W, in Live Oak. Delivery is also available upon request.
