The Hamilton County School District is always focused on improving the education for all students. It recently hit a new milestone with its third graders, with Hamilton County Elementary School (HCES) being the number one school in the entire state for the largest increase in third grade reading scores. The increase was by 15 percentage points, meaning that 52 percent of third graders at HCES are reading at or above grade level. This is a huge improvement from the most recent scoring at 37 percent.
Florida, itself, continues to improve its education system. The Florida Chamber Foundation has put together a graphic showing their attempted goals. In reading, by 2030, they wish to have 100 percent of Florida's third and eighth graders reading at or above grade level. Across the entire state, the third grade reading numbers jumped up by three percentage points to 55 percent.
