Local fire department receives grant to help upgrade radio system

Kenzie James  reporter3.riverbendnews@gmail.com  In July, the Live Oak Fire Department (LOFD) announced that it received a grant for safety equipment, which it used to contribute to upgrading its radio system.  LOFD shared on Facebook on Tuesday, July 9, that firefighter Will Johnson wrote a grant proposal to Enbridge, Inc. Enbridge is a North American energy delivery company headquartered in Canada. The company's Safe Community First Responder program, established in 2002 in the U.S., awards the Safe Community Grant for safety equipment, training or education programs for emergency response organizations.  Johnson said this is the second year LOFD has applied for this grant.
