Around the Banks
The year was 1993. I remember so much of it vividly for a number of reasons. It was the year I became principal at Central Hamilton Elementary in Jasper, Fla. I truly loved my five years as a principal in Jasper.
It was the summer I attended the Summer Institute for Principals at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. It was the year I lost my beloved Daddy, the late J. Wade Bullard, Nov. 7, 1927-Nov. 15, 1993.
It was the year the first restoration of the carillon bells at the Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park was completed. Daddy would sometimes say: "It seems it takes forever for a person to turn 21 years of age, and then, you're 40 in three weeks." He wasn't wrong.
