My name is Jamie Tyndal. I am your Hamilton County Judge. I was appointed to the bench by Governor DeSantis to fill the vacancy left by Judge Sonny Scaff’s retirement. I have served as your county judge for over a year now. I preside over traffic court, county criminal court, small claims, and county civil cases. I also sit as an acting circuit judge presiding over the county’s juvenile dependency and delinquency, probate, mental health, guardianship cases, and injunctions. In 2023, I established a truancy court and I have been working with several other local county judges to come up with uniform forms to assist pro se litigants (individuals representing themselves) navigate the judicial system.
I attended the University of Florida graduating Cum Laude with a degree in Finance in 2005. I went on to graduate from the University of Florida College of Law in 2009.
In 2010, I began my career in the Third Circuit (made up of Hamilton, Columbia, Suwannee, Madison, Dixie, Lafayette, and Taylor Counties) at the Office of the State Attorney. I was promoted to the Special Prosecution Unit in 2015 where I handled homicide, child sex, and sexually violent predator cases in Hamilton County and throughout the circuit. In 2018, I became an office supervisor while still maintaining a SPU case load. After serving as a prosecutor for over a decade, I left the State Attorney’s Office in 2021 and opened my own firm where I practiced exclusively in the Third Circuit. I have tried cases in Hamilton County, and throughout the Circuit, as both a prosecutor and defense attorney.
In addition to practicing law, I also taught business law at Florida Gateway College from the fall of 2020 until I was appointed to the bench. During my career, I have always been a member of the Third Judicial Circuit Bar Association (former president). I have served on the Pro Bono, Professionalism, and Grievance Committees.
I currently sit on the Conference of County Court Judges Committee of 31 Solo Judges and Criminal Rules Committee as well as the Local Professionalism Committee. I am an active member of the Jasper Woman’s Club and Sonlight Singers (a group that sings regularly at the nursing home) and have been honored to help teach VBS for the past several years.
My husband, Cory Imler, is a fourth generation North Florida Farmer and owns a construction company. We enjoy spending time with our families and outdoors where we work in our yard here in Jasper as well as help tend to our family’s cattle and farm. When we manage to find the time, we enjoy spending time on the water fishing.
For PROVEN EXPERIENCE, PROVEN HONESTY, PROVEN PROFESSIONALISM, AND PROVEN VALUES, I humbly ask for your vote on August 20, 2024.
