Hello to my Fellow Hamilton Countians,
I do hope all is well with you and your family. My name is Lee Wetherington-Zamora. I have had the sincere pleasure of serving as your Superintendent of Schools for this last term. I humbly ask for your vote again on August 20th for the opportunity to continue the work that has been achieved over these short 3.5 years.
My qualifications include Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Education in Leadership- both degrees from Florida A&M University. I also hold certification in School Principalship. It is challenging to sum up 57 years of life into a few short sentences! Bottom line is I have a proven record of proactive leadership and have demonstrated school improvement with a teambuilding approach and a solution-oriented work ethic. During my last campaign, I asked to earn your vote based on one of my proven leadership skills- GOAL ACHIEVEMENT!
While it is difficult to compress my history into a few statements, it is not hard to talk about the goals we have been able to achieve in 3.5 years. Our students, our educators, and our administration teams have worked strategically in Student Achievement and School Accountability:
For 2024, Hamilton County High School has been predicted to achieve the most accountability points in the history of school accountability.
For 2024, Hamilton County Elementary School has two historical achievements: the least amount of 3rd grade students scoring a Level 1 and the 5th grade students were 3rd in the state for Writing scores.
Hamilton County High School’s Graduation Rate is predicted to be 82%, the highest percentage rate since the 2016 school year (outside of the COVID waivers of 2020 and 2021).
Hamilton County High School had 5 Seniors graduate with their Associate’s of Arts Degree from North Florida College in 2024.
Career and Technology Education Certifications:
Welding Certification program has yielded 73 certifications in just 2 years of implementation.
Certified Nursing Assistant Certification program has been revamped with 10 certifications for 2024 compared to 0 certifications three years ago.
Agricultural Sciences Certifications continue to be vibrant with numerous certifications.
55 students are scheduled to attend RiverOak Technical College for 2024-2025 compared to only 23 enrolled three years ago.
Hamilton County High School has revitalized its Air Force JROTC program with over 40 students enrolled for 2024-2025.
Hamilton County High School has reintroduced their Performing Arts program which has just exploded, showcasing our students’ artistic talents.
To continue this work, I respectfully ask you for your valuable vote. Our continued focus is to have our children to value their education, our families to expect it, and our community to support it! I have heard it said by some folks that Hamilton County Schools are “ineffective” schools- our children, our educators, our administration teams have proven that perception is no longer a valid viewpoint!
Hamilton County School District is rising up!!
