It is with heavy hearts that the family of Dorothy Jean Hart share that she has taken her rightful place in the host of angels. After a prolonged illness, she passed away on Nov. 23, 2020 with many of her family members at her side. It was her wish that this would occur in the home in which she grew up in McAlpin, Fla.
She was born into a loving family with Joyce and John Fink as her parents on April 18, 1942. She grew up in that same house, and attended local schools. She was preceded in death by her brothers and sister: Richard Fink, Robert Fink, Scotty Fink and Marie Fink Albritton. She is survived by her only living sibling, Logan Fink.
She met the love of her life at an early age, and married Raymond Hart, who went to be with the Lord in 2007. Together they shared their life and created many memories. Their children are Ray Hart, Thresa Hart Johnson and Ruth Ann Hart Gilhooly.
Her life was filled by the raising of her children and she enjoyed many successes in her life, such as, owning multiple businesses and being an author. But the thing she treasured most were her three children. She cherished watching them grow into their adulthood. She shared in their joy but was equally there to help in their sorrow.
As a result of this, she enjoyed her five grandchildren that included Levis Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Blair Lee Thompson, Kevin Duckworth and Kristi Riddle. These five grandchildren have enriched her life with 17 great-grandchildren.
Much can be said of how Dorothy Jean Hart lived her life. She was someone who understood the challenges that life can bring and, most importantly, what you must do to overcome these challenges. She had a unique sense of humor and a quick wit. She would see you as you are and encourage you to be the best that you can be without conforming to what others may want you to be. She was not afraid to voice her thoughts and opinions. She was highly respected and loved by her family for being just who she was.
The heaviness that we feel in our hearts is because we will miss her so much. We know that you have gone to join your husband and family in heaven. We can only imagine the laughter and stories that you are sharing with them now. We know that we will meet again in God's glorious host of heavenly angels, but until that time we all share in the blessing of having shared our lives with you. Now fly mom and soar with the angels. Enjoy your eternal life for you have earned it. We know that you will continue to look out for us and we will always feel the love that we all shared with you.
A graveside service will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in McAlpin on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 1 p.m. The service will be conducted by family, as that was what was important to her. All are welcome to celebrate her life as we pay a final farewell to a very special person.
