For the first time, Mayo's 41st annual Pioneer Days festival will be blended with their annual Christmas in the Park event, from Friday to Saturday, on Dec. 11 and 12, at Veterans Memorial Park in Mayo. "A Pioneer Christmas," begins on Friday, with the Ms. Mayo and Lil Ms. Mayo pageant that begins at 5 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m. at Lafayette High School. Later that evening there will be a gathering with music and dancing at the town park gazebo from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturday morning, Pioneer Christmas officially begins at 9 a.m. and will go on until 9 p.m., with great vendors and food out on the street. Live entertainment is being provided all day, with music from Sadie Miller, Lil Bit More, Snake Blood Band, Jessica Heurtematte, Southern Rhythm Cloggers, Mayo Baptist Choir, the Ronnie McKinley Band, and Jamie King and Bryce Carlyle. The Christmas Parade will start on Main Street at 6 p.m. and finish at 7 p.m., with photo opportunities with Christmas characters, Santa Clause and the Grinch being provided afterwards.
