The Florida Podiatric Medical Society (FPMS) has recently begun a free diabetic footwear program. This initiative provides diabetic socks, inserts and shoes to residents living with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes in qualifying counties. It aims to provide eligible patients with comfortable, supportive footwear at no cost.
To apply for the program, you must have a diagnosis of diabetes, Type 1 or Type 2. You also must reside in any of the
following counties: Baker, Bradford, Calhoun, Columbia, DeSoto, Dixie, Franklin, Gilchrist, Glades, Gulf, Hamilton, Hardee, Hendry, Holmes, Jackson, Jefferson, Lafayette, Levy, Liberty, Madison, Monroe, Nassau, Okeechobee, Putnam, Suwannee, Taylor, Union, Wakulla or Washington. Although the program aims to provide footwear to as many people in need as possible, supplies are limited, and the program will prioritize the elderly, physically disabled or ill and those who are economically disadvantaged.
