Local chef wins national recipe contest

On Tuesday, June 4, the City of Live Oak welcomed representatives from General Mills, along with the iconic Pillsbury Dough Boy, for a special occasion. Rebecca Thomas, a chef at Dixie Grill, achieved national recognition by winning first place in the General Mills Biskies recipe contest with her strawberry cream biscuit bites.
The celebratory event allowed Thomas to finally accept her grand prize: a $20,000 check from General Mills. The occasion was marked with festivities, during which attendees had the chance to meet the Pillsbury Dough Boy and taste Thomas's award-winning biscuits.
