New council members elected for Live Oak

In the runoff election held on Tuesday, June 11, for the Live Oak City Council District 5 seat, Gladys Owens secured a victory with 74 votes, defeating incumbent Tesie Allen, who received 34 votes. This followed the election held on Tuesday, May 7, where Owens had finished just one vote behind Allen. However, as neither candidate received the required 50 percent vote to win outright, a runoff election had to be held.
Joining Owens is Vanessa Brown Robinson in the District 2 seat, having received 74 votes compared to her competitor, Jackie Cherry, who received 33 votes.
