It is with the greatest pleasure that the Riverbend News announces its Second Annual Blackberry Festival will be taking place this Saturday, June 22. Originally held annually by the Hamilton County Chamber of Commerce, Riverbend News has decided to step up and help keep this fun-filled festival going.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., attendees will be able to enjoy browsing through a plethora of craft vendors and enjoy savory delights from various food vendors.
In addition, the winners of the Second Annual Miss Blackberry Photogenic Contest will be able to pick up their crowns and sashes. Are you interested in entering your princess in this competition? Then you're in luck – the deadline for submissions has been extended to noon on Friday, June 21. Categories open for submissions include 12 to 23 months old, 4 to 6 years old, 10 to 12 years old, 13 to 15 years old and 16 to 18 years old. Entries should be 5 inch by 7 inch printed photos and must be dropped off in person. A $15 entry fee will apply to each entry, and only one photo per contestant may be entered.
Photos must have been taken after Jan. 1, 2024, and the contestant must be alone in the photo. Judges will be looking at the uniqueness of the photo, the effectiveness of capturing the moment, whether the contestant's personality shines through, and the photogenic quality.
Winners will be announced on Riverbend News' Facebook page and will be published in the newspaper. Winners will be able to pick up their crowns and sashes at Riverbend's booth at the Blackberry Festival.
