Wellborn is one of the oldest communities in Suwannee County; the area around it was settled by Americans before practically any other location in the County. Wellborn's age, coupled with its story, makes for an interesting (to me, anyway!) series of articles. So, today, we begin a multi-article look at Wellborn's history.
Historians would say that the present community of Wellborn began in the early 1830s when George E.
