Florida government takes action to prevent scams

Florida's governor and attorney general took action last week, including signing a new law and releasing a consumer alert to help prevent Floridians from being hurt by scams.
Gov. Ron DeSantis signed nine bills on Tuesday, May 28, including Senate Bill (SB) 556, the Protection of Specified Adults. SB 556 targets specified those who are “vulnerable adults,” including seniors over the age of 65 and those who may be victims of suspected financial exploitation. The bill defines a vulnerable adult as a natural person over the age of 18 whose ability to perform everyday activities of daily living or provide for his or her own care or protectio
