Florida schools now able to have voluntary chaplains

In 2023, Texas became the first state to pass a law allowing volunteer chaplains in schools. Of course, Florida has been quick to follow suit. On Thursday, April 18, Governor Ron DeSantis signed a bill allowing Florida schools to have the same option. Chaplains interested in serving must only pass a background check and have their name and religious affiliation listed on the school website. It was stressed that the program will be voluntary; schools will not be required to have a chaplain, and students will not be required to work with the chaplains.
