Suwannee County Fire Rescue’s Honor Guard, upholding dignity and honor

Established in 2017 under then-Fire Chief James Sommers, the Suwannee County Fire Rescue Honor Guard serves to respect and honor fallen firefighters. Since its inception, the Honor Guard has grown into a regional unit dedicated to honoring the sacrifices of those who have bravely served all over Northeast Florida.
More of a brotherhood—a tight-knit group of individuals who share a common goal—the Honor Guard exists as more than a simple ceremonial unit. Having initially started with six members, the group has since expanded to 12 members. The unit's leadership includes Fire Chief Eddie Hand, Honor Guard Commander Matt Garbet
