Around the Banks
This past Friday, May 10, parts of North Central Florida were hit by a brief but very intense storm. On portions of our road, the Woodpecker Route, north of White Springs, trees fell, power lines snapped, and for just a brief time, the windows in our house rattled as heavy rain blowing in sideways pounded against them. This intense storm lasted less than an hour, but during that time, almost 4 inches of rain fell and our power was out over 48 hours.
Now, being raised in a fairly remote area sometimes referred to as "Plum Nearly," plum to Georgia and nearly out of the world among endless acres of slash pines, I am accustomed to power outages. Jokingly, we often said, "If it thunders in V
