The City of Live Oak had its Veterans Day Parade Wednesday, Nov. 11. The congregation paraded through the middle of the city beginning at 9 a.m., marching and driving right through the heart of downtown. Music played from the floats and vehicles, flags flew and candy was thrown out to the children in attendance by those taking part in the parade. The fanfare was well-deserved as two World War II veterans smiled from their vehicles while being driven by family and friends. They waved to the crowds that were calling out "thank you" and took their hats off in respect for them. Hooked on Heroes was in attendance in a boat of a float, Live Oak's American Legion chapter was present as well and Mayor Frank Davis waved from a fire truck. The parade was led by Suwannee High School's JROTC students, followed by decorated armored vehicles.
In a year where a lot of traditions have been canceled due to coronavirus precautions, Live Oak rejoiced in still having their traditional parade to show their appreciation to their local veterans.
